World Menstrual Hygiene Day: Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld

Stitching Hearts Foundation’s Outreach at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigerian Secondary School, Calabar (FAANS) On May 28, 2024, in commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

We conducted an impactful outreach at FAAN Secondary School. Aligning with this year’s theme, “Together for a Period-Friendly World,” our team focused on educating and empowering the students about menstrual hygiene.

During the event, we provided comprehensive education on menstrual hygiene to the teenage girls, addressing important topics such as the menstrual cycle, hygiene practices, and breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation. Our goal was to equip these young women with the knowledge they need to manage their periods confidently and healthily.

In addition to the educational sessions, the Stitching Hearts Foundation empowered 400 teenage girls by distributing sanitary pads.

This initiative ensures that these girls have the necessary resources to maintain their hygiene and dignity during their menstrual cycles.

Our outreach at FAAN Secondary School marks a significant step towards creating a period-friendly world, where every girl can manage her menstruation with confidence and without fear of stigma. We are committed to continuing our efforts to support menstrual hygiene education and advocacy in our community.
